The Great Twin Battle...

The following part was written last Saturday...
Well, good morning to all!! Happy Saturday!! It's a lovely 70 degrees right now in sunny Florida, the perfect day for the Gasparilla invasion! (If you don't know about Gasparilla, go here.)
Sorry I haven't blogged this week. It's been a little crazy around here, with rehersals and school and what not. (I also got a new guitar... but that's another post.)

Anyways...

There is a very important event occurring right now that you should know about.
First things first.
Okay, so this is Nikki.

This is me.

This is me and Nikki together. (with Kirsten in the back)

JK, better picture?

There we go. Much better.
Nikki and I look alike (we looked more alike a few years back, but deal) so we refer to each other as "Twin". I am her Twin, she is mine. Funny how the whole Twin thing works.
Okay, here's how it goes from there.
Nikki likes hippos.

I like penguins.

I know. We're an odd bunch.
Anyways, the other night, Nikki posts a status.
"I am madly in love with hippos"
That's great Nikki.
Well, I commented on it, eventually leading to this being posted on my wall.

I, of course, had to respond with this.

I also decided to show Nikki this really cool penguin that I got for Christmas...

And she responded with this:

Leading me to give her this:

Which rendered this respons from her:

And then, I pulled out the big guns:

 BOOM.

I went there.

Now, according to Nikki, she gave me that Duct Tape. It's true, she did. But I got another roll for Christmas, and I don't see hippo Duct Tape anywhere, so I think it's safe to say that I won for now.

By the time you're all reading this, it'll be Nikki's birthday.

So Happy Birthday, my dearest Twin.

Happy Birthday.

An Eventful Week

WOW This week was fun of fun and awesome changes!!!

Okay... Mostly two changes... and only for me...

But that's beside the point!!

I got new glasses on Monday and I got bangs on Wednesday!!!

Our Spanish teacher decided to have class outside on Wednesday... which was fine by me since it was beautiful outside!!

(I love the way the sun shows up in this shot)

Then we had music theory class during choir. That was, um, fun?
Claire does not understand the topic at hand...

The wonderful Mr. Farrell, teaching away at theory.

His idea of "simplifying it so that we wouldn't have to use insane ledger lines"... Whatever.

Yay interval training!!

After school we headed to the hair salon. I snapped some last pictures of my beautiful long hair...

And then it was gone!!

 My wonderful hairdresser, Lisette!

BAM. There's a shot of the new glasses and the new hair.

AAAAND then I had to go to school on Thursday (logical, no?)
We watched William Lane Craig debating a guy about morality and ethics....
In my Morality and Ethics class.

Thought I'd try to capture the awesomeness of my new hair, but I ended up capturing the nastiness of my room. I'm gonna clean that later.

I decided to practice my Taylor Swift wonder stare. You wouldn't believe how many of my friends called my Taylor Swift on Thursday... and Friday. I take it as a compliment, of course!

So yeah, that was my eventful week!!

This morning I had some waffles with nutella and fresh strawberries for breakfast before heading out to go feed some local homeless people with a group from school. It was a great experience and I can't wait until we go again next month!!!

(Waffles, Nutella, and Strawberries= Best breakfast ever!!)
So yeah, I'm off to do dishes and clean my room and such fun things. Eventually.

Shall I leave you with a picture of Nikki's hippo lunchbox? Yes, I think I shall.

All-State!

I'm baaaaaaaaack!!

For now, anyways. I have this thing called school that kinda gets in the way of my social habits... Who am I kidding? School is where most of my social habits occur!

AAAAAnyways, for those of you who don't know what the heck All-State is, let me give you the short version!!

Whooo! Escalator riding!! (I then had to go back up to get my music...)

All-State is a TOTALLY awesome conglomeration of many things, at least many musical things. The whole things actually starts back in September, when us students audition to get into one of the performance groups (There are choirs and bands and orchestras and such). Then, if we make it, we go to Tampa in January. Those of us who've made it go to rehersals for our groups. Those are really fun and can last from three to five hours! WHOO! But don't worry. We DO get breaks.
(I may or may not have been taking some pictures during one of our rehersals... :D)

At the same time as our rehersals, our teachers got to various seminars and the like.
Or they all go to lunch directly below your rehersal space. We had time to kill, and I felt like being creepy, so I took some ninja shots. :)

There's also a giant exhibition hall where colleges, fund-raising groups and instrument vendors (it's actually really cool- you can bring your own mouthpiece and play on REALLY nice instruments!!).

We found the booth of the lovely people who gave us out marching band championship in November!! The woman who runs it is the sweetest woman ever!
So yeah, it's a lot of fun. You get to meet people from around the state who share your interests. The girl next to me and the girl in front of me discovered that both of them play bassoon but march mellophone! Small world!!

Noooo... We're not the dramatic choir kids at all!! (with the exception of Jordan, the band kid who's facing the wrong way)

There's a lovely group shot!! All of our All-State awesome people!!

A really bad picture of me in my choir dress. I have no idea why it came out so bad, but

The 2013 All-State Concert Choir!!

Dramatic suspicious glances...

That's right, I went all hipster for Day One. But, I took advantage of the nice weather. It's usually freezing for All-State and we all have jackets and scarves and gloves, but this year it was jeans and t-shirts and shorts and such!!

Hm. This was actually school this morning... Not sure how it got in the picture group...

Anyways, guess what?!?

I HAVE NEW GLASSES AND NOW I CAN SEE!!!

My prescription is the same, but I'd had my old glasses for four years and the protective coating on the lenses began bubbling and I couldn't see and it was really annoying...*whew* I'm glad those are gone!!! Pictures in the next post? Yes. Yes there will be. I'm also getting bangs so this should be a fun week for me!!

Okay, well, that's all for now!! Have a lovely week!!

(This blog post (and the Reese's) is approved by Cuz (and a creepy Mikayla))

Question of the Post: What role has fine arts played in your life? Do you have a band, choir, or drama director that's greatly impacted you??

Back To School...

Guess who went back to school Tuesday??

This girl!

Lucky me, right? I got to go back a day later than the rest of the county, so I really am lucky.

I spent Monday hanging out with a VERY awesome woman named Teresa! We went to IKEA, then went back to her place and watched Warehouse 13 episodes on Netflix. Great day to spend my last day off!! I also decided to rock my Batman shirt that day (you can't really see it, but be jealous of my sparkly silver Converse!)

So then, Tuesday happened.

Yay. Not very exciting.
Anyone know how to put a drumset together? :)
One of out sophomores drew this to go with our marching show. It has lyrics from all four movements. She's amazing! You go Bobbaroo!
 Quote of the week!
"God intends to give what we need, not what we now think we want" -C.S. Lewis. (I LOVE his quotes, BTW)
You mean you don't have a giant Rubik's Cube sitting around in your band room?

AP US History boredom, as shown above. Fear not, however. I DO actually pay attention in
 that class!

So then today (Wednesday) happened. It was pretty cool, actually. The seniors who had returned from the Passion conference in Georgia last week spoke and sang.

Ems, Meg, and Schmeals, some of my
ever-lovely friends!!  (Actual names? Emily, Megan, and Amelia. Aren't they fabulous?)

Yeah, so this is me on a typical morning. Running out of the house with wet hair and bare feet.

At least I ended up not looking like a hot mess.

For our third period class, Nikki and I have la clase de Espanol. (Spanish, for all you non-bilinguals!) Our Spanish teacher always has these really cool and interesting magazines in the back of her room, and I like to look through them sometimes. This is what Nikki and I found when we went looking today...

 How To Hatch A Dinosaur:
Step 1: Get a chicken.
Step 2: Hack its DNA
Step 3: Stand back

The colorful thing right here? That's what Nikki and I did during class. All the quotes from the Hunger Games Bad Lip Reading video. (Again, we WERE actually paying attention!!)

Here's the lovely poster I made at the beginning of the year advertising our production of "Annie"! It was an awesome show, and if you didn't see it, you missed out!!

One of my freshmen snagged my camera and took a few shots of me during lunch.

 KIRSTEN! Lovely, as always!

Well, that's about it for back to school this week. I won't be able to update as often as I'd like to, due to homework and the like. Which, by the way, I should be doing now. Guess who's not in school for the next two days?? THIS GIRL!

YEAH! Going off to the All-State Convention!! It's always a lot of fun, and I'm in the Concert Choir this year! I'm super-excited! (Did I mention that I'm missing two days of school??)

That's gonna be a fun blog to write up :) Until then, lovely people!! (Yes, that's you!)

Question of the Post: This is one I've been DYING to get an answer to!! My friend Jen always drinks her juice boxes like Nikki is demonstrating in the picture. We think that she's weird and it's one of her quirks. Is that the right way to drink a juice box? Please, we all want your answer!!
